Easter Makes

A glimpse of what I have been enjoying this Easter

here at Patchwork House

Mr Pwk Ht and I enjoyed a lovely spring walk in the woods

to collect the twigs for our Easter tree

Oh how I enjoyed last weekend

unwrapping all my treasures to hang and pretty up my window

Sitting enjoying its prettiness

I decided to add some of the lovely crocheted flowers

that I have seen everywhere around in blogland

They were so quick and easy and used up tiny scraps or yarn

I used the pattern out of my

Nicki Tench book ~ cute and easy crochet

but you will also find a tutorial written by

Lucy at Attic24

I have been enjoying

Valentine's Treat

I usually try to blog each weekend,
so to explain my absence last weekend this is where I was!
For a special Valentine's treat
Mr Pwk Ht and I went off to the Lake District for a weekend break.
I booked it several weeks ago and it has been so good to look forward to.
We are lucky to live only 1+1/2 hours away
so on Friday night after work we jumped in the car
and headed up to Windermere to stay with my friend Sam at
We have been many times before
and will continue to visit as we love the Lake District,
the B&B is cosy and beautifully furnished and the hospitality is top quality.
Sam is a crafter and when I first stayed there we immediately hit it off.
You can find her on facebook at Butterscotch Lane Crafts.
The B&B is beautifully furnished and decorated with lovely crafts
which will delight any crafters wanting a break!
We can highly recommend a stay at Briardene with Sam and David.
Do take a look at their website and if you go say that I sent you!
To add to the delight of our weekend break we were treated to snow,
something we have not had on The Wirral!
It was VERY cold but we thoroughly enjoyed putting on our boots and hats
and having some fresh air.
Our 1st walk was around the pretty village of Grasmere,
where Wordsworth is buried.
We love the little streets, the Gingerbread shop
and the beautiful church there.
Can you see the frozen fountain? It was amazing!
It was SO cold it wasn't long before we needed
hot chocolate to warm us up!
Next we drove up to Keswick for a mooch round the market.
Mr Pwk Ht (from USA) hadnt been up here
so I drove to let him take in the views
and we were treated to beautiful sights over a frozen Thirlmere.
Again it was bitter so we had fun choosing an old real ale pub for lunch,
where curry and goulash were just what we needed to warm us!
We had a wonderful time
time away from home
time together
time for us!!
I hope you have all had some Valentine's love too

Happy Sunday friends!
This is what I'm enjoying today here at Patchwork House.
I am spending some quality time relaxing, sitting snuggling with my quilts and crocheted cushions, enjoying these pink tulips. My New Years resolution is to clean the kitchen floor EVERY Saturday and to buy myself fresh flowers each Friday! (I must admit I'm very good at the 2nd but not so keen on the 1st!!!)
As I sit and gaze
I am reminded of the wonder of God's creation and his beautiful gift to us.
Happy Sunday whatever you are up to!

crochet help PLEEASSSSSE?

Calling all you clever crocheting girls, can you help me please?
This is my 2nd attempt at a circular cushion and it is going wrong again AGGHHH!
as you can see the circle is turning out more like a frilly octagon again!
I have been following the pattern by Lucy at Attic 24
I have written to Lucy for help but I know she is a busy lady and must have tons of mail to deal with, so I am asking is there anyone out there who can help me please?
The 1st time a month ago I followed Lucy's pattern exactly, stitched it up and had a sad looking cushion that had a wrinkly spiders web design. I lived with it for a few weeks but hated it so now its undone and I'm starting again. I began with 9 instead of 11 stitches in the 1st round and it is still too big. Shall I try 8 stitches, is it my tension, or does anyone have another pattern I can follow please? I am using Sirdar Country Style DK with a 4mm hook.
Please help
I know there are so many of you out there
who make lovely crochet all the time
I am looking forward to hearing from you,
either respond to this post or email me at
thepatchworkheartuk@gmail.com
Thanks girls

Buttons and rags!

What a lovely relaxing few evenings I have had away from my sewing machine.
As I shared in my last post she has been poorly and is away at the repair man, having a well earned service and some adjustments done! She has done many 1000s of miles I am sure so is in need of a rest! But what is a girl to do without a machine for 5 days .....
Oh how I love to sew on buttons, and even better sewing on felt!
I have spent some lovely time rummaging through my HUGE button collections and came up with all these vintage buttons in shades of white, cream, pearl and crystal. Don't they look gorgeous? I think they would be just super for Valentine's Day or a wedding gift and will add lovely vintage charm to any home.
Tomorrow is an exciting day as I get my machine back
and hopefully will be able to get on with my free motion work again :))
